  1. i've camped on lots of corps land, it's better than any campground. just the woods. almost never see another person, unless they''re trying to be left alone too, in which case, it's alright.

  2. Sure, why not. I've camped at no campsites before, just in the woods as I choose a spot, a la Carlos Castaneda, that "feels" right, so I'll bet those ACE campsites are no worse than any others, depending mostly on how close you are to civilization. The closer the worse usually.

  3. Yep! I used to camp at Lake Sonoma at the "boat in" or "walk in" campsites a lot. The good thing about Army Corps of Engineers is that any campground you can't drive into is FREE. That suits me just fine because the walk in and boat in campgrounds tend to have very little use and none of the silliness that is found in popular / crowded drive in campgrounds.

  4. I've stayed in one in Vermont. It was great. Everyone forgets about ACOE campgrounds especially if there are state parks or national forest sites nearby. The one I stayed at was close to where I lived. Very clean, very quiet. On busy holiday weekends the three state parks were booked solid. The ACOE site almost always had plenty of open spaces.
