Has anybody ever died or been crippled in a professional MMA fight?

Question

I watch a lot of UFC and MMA stuff and I do Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Taekwondo, the people pound on each other pretty hard in the cage and I've seen some pretty brutal elbows. Has anybody in each of the fighting networks, IFC, UFC, PRIDE etc. ever been crippled or maybe even killed in a fight? I was just wondering so it would be appreciated if you gave an answer.

Douglas Dedge was the first noted MMA fighter to die in a professional MMA fight on March 16, 1998. He participated in an unsanctioned MMA bought in the Ukrane, after being declared medically ineligible to participate in MMA in the US due to a heart defect.

Sam Vasquez became the second noted MMA fighter to die, due to injuries he received in an October 20th, 2007 fight, due to blunt trauma to the head. Vasquez was allowed to stand up and continue fighting by the referee, which probably caused a stroke. Vasquez was put into a medical coma in order to remove several brain clots, but he passed away on November 30, 2007.

2 have one in the ukraine back in the early bare knuckle days and recently sam vazquez the first guy could not get cleared to fight in the states at all had history of blacking out when triaing plus he lyed baout his striking ability vazquez had history of blood clot in his brain prior to fighting MMa isby far safer then boxing which has been proven by many mnay tests
