We want to get married in the Costa del Sol area and have found this hotel. Photos look great and its all planned out for you by wedding planners at the hotel. I just want to know average cost and your whole experience with the planners, food, accomodation. Did you get what you dreamed you would have? Do they listen to your ideas and opinions? How far in advance to you have to book because of red tape?

  1. Sunset Beach Club is a lovely resort, I live in benalmadena and there is nothing wrong with the area, my cousin is actually looking into getting married at Sunset Beach Club. It has top facilities and a couple of years ago they built a beautiful seafront promenade where there are sometimes blessings. I've never eaten there, ive stayed in a room there once, very spacious apartment type rooms, all the staff are very friendly. I'm sure it would be a great place to get married. About booking I think you would be best to book a while in advance so that you can make sure all guests get accomodation? As it can be very busy there in summer months.Im also pretty sure that the wedding planners will listen to your ideas.

  2. I've family with a time-share week at the Sunset Beach Club, and I've been there to visit them several times. The place is quite nice...

My husband works in another chain, but in off season he has done wedding banquets. Some at Sunset Beach. He says the place is wonderful, good ambiance and excellent food.

But before you decide, look up some more places...

The Beatriz Palace in Fuengirola has magnificent banquet halls, and wedding organisers.

The Hotel Alay near Puerto Marina in Benalmádena is also pretty good...

This following is  the website for the chain my husband works at... They have 3 hotels  on the coast, Benalmadena, Marbella and Estepona, & also have a good section for wedding organising...

(the site is in spanish, but if you ask for info, you'll be answered in english, the english webpage is still under construction).

One of the poshest on the coast is the Hotel Byblos...

Their website even has sample banquet menus....

There are also places that have facilites for venues such as wedding celebrations, but are not hotels... These are also worth looking into...

As to how far in advance, the sooner you fix the date and make your plans, the better.

In Spain weddings are usually planned from 12 to 18 months in advance! (Sometimes up to 2 yrs.).

I myself often help organise weddings for friends, (everything from floral arrangements, bridal bouquet,  to invitations and wedding favours) I do anywhere from 3 to 5 a year. (In the last year I've done one in may in Estepona, one in july in Benalmadena, one in october in Algeciras and one in february in Alora).

If you need any other advice...just ask me, I'll be delighted to help you if I can...

  3. I'm not familiar with the sunset beach hotel but I have been to Benalmedena on holiday. It wasn't the classiest spanish resort to say the least! They have a nice 'Marina' area and it was nice enough for a holiday but nothing to shout home about although it was in October (end of season) so this may have been the reason for the lack of much going on. Why not try somewhere like Nerja or Murcia which are a bit more upmarket. I don't blame u for wanting to get married out there, it's a lovely part of the world perhaps you could take a short break to that hotel to test the waters first and check out the area. Good luck.
