  1. If you are within your 30-day money-back guarantee period, send it back and tell them why.

It is not uncommon for new VoIP startups to not fully support reliable DTMF functionality. DTMF functionality is actually a complex issue when it comes to VoIP.  Some services have reliable DTMF, some do not (or cannot).

The reasons can be complex.  Same reason some VoIP services work with Fax and some don't.  It is a problem of sending and receiving precise tone frequencies that Fax and DTMF require to function properly.  MagicJack clearly states that they cannot support Fax transmissions.  It may be the codec they use.

There are different methods of sending DTMF over VoIP networks.  And, often when calls are routed through different networks the handling of DTMF gets mucked.  So is rather touch-and-go.

Contact MagicJack customer support directly and put the question direct - "Does MagicJack guarantee reliable DTMF functionality".

I had your same problem when I was testing GrandCentral services.  Calls originated from GrandCentral online contact list worked great - except after call pickup, I tried to use DTMF to do call routing (for A, press 1, for B, press 2, etc.).  I sent bug report to GrandCentral support.  They later replied saying that DTMF functionality was known to not work properly on their network - they hope to fix it in future...
