Has anybody had a Philadelphia cheese steak????

I had one when I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was goood!!!!!

  1. i live 10 minutes outside philly and something that cracks me up.. is when you go to a resturant in another state and they say they have "philly cheesesteaks".. lol.. and  aroll comes out with a piece of steack not even chopped up.. lol.. crack me up..

  6. Yeah, I live 15 minutes from Philly(the suburbs) and I like Steve's Prince of Steaks.  About one in the U.K. I don't think you can get Philly there.  :o)  You just have to come back and visist us again  :o)

  9. When I was on a road trip last month with my Dad we went to Philly, and we went to a little sidewalk setup called "Moms Cheese steak" and OMFG IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!

  13. Yes, had a Philadelphia cheese steak just two days ago; we are known for our cheese steaks.  England, alas, is not.

  17. I LOVE cheesesteaks!  Having lived in Philly and the surrounding 'burbs since 1979 (and family that's lived in the area for 3 generations), I grew up with Philly specials (my mom used to buy out the Tastykake display when they shipped them out of state!).

    MomnDad is correct - some places call their offerings Philly cheesesteaks, but....

    I was at the Red Lion hotel in Orange County, CA a number of years ago- their Philly Cheesesteak was steak on a roll with Philly Cream Cheese.  Ick.  Sacriligious (sp?).

  24. I'm from Philly.  Cheesesteaks from Philly are the best.  I go away to school and can't even get a cheesesteak anywhere else because I can taste the difference.  Glad you enjoyed it :)

  26. yea, you can make one yourself, you dont have to be in Philadelphia to get one, you just put steak, cut up in slips, and cheese on bread and melt the cheese

  28. You can make one yourself -- buy rib-eye steak and get it sliced very thin.  get a good crusty but soft inside roll, cook steak in skillet in olive oil, add onions, add cheese if desired and then add to roll.  Enjoy!

    (You could open up your own Cheesesteak place in the UK :) )

  29. yes.... the best ones are at Jim's 4th and South Street; other people will tell you different places, because the entire city splits between three or four different places (Jim's, Pat's, Geno's and Mom's).  Im not sure if you can get an authentic Philly cheese steak in the UK, but just keep on the lookout, I guess.
