  1. I have heard mixed things about Sallie Mae.  Most of the things I have heard is that its not a good place to get a loan through.  I think you need to talk to a higher up person.  Tell them that you have the payment booklet and that you were told to follow that.  Tell them that your not going to change anything unless your loan terms have changed.  They might be trying to rip you off.  As long as your making your payments on time and in the amount your book says, then your fine.  Make sure you keep copies of everything though so you  have proof that you are following your loan terms.  They cant put you in collections as long as your making the payments.

  2. Wow. I'm assuming you've explained about your payment book. I would ask to speak to a supervisor, or instead of waiting for the next rep to call you, call the number in your payment book and see what they have to say.

It is possible for you to have different information than they do. For instance, if you were out of school for 6 months and were required to start repaying, but then you went back to school. They would have allowed you a deferment until you are out of school again, but in the meantime, you would still have received a payment book. After your deferment, you should have received a second payment book and disregarded the old on.

It's difficult to say without more information.
