It's a "shock" treatment that is used to treat those who are not responding to meds used to treat depression. If anybody has ever had these treatments, I would like your opinion, positive and/or negative. Most of my research has been of extreme negativity regarding this, in my eyes, horrific treatment.

  1. i personally have witnessed such, and i am not in favor of it eventhough they do it as a last resort..its very unhumane..

  2. I had ECT done years ago. It didn't seem to work for me right away, but in the long run it has helped. I still have to take anti depressants, but now they work.

  3. I have had ECT because I was desperate but if I could go back in time I would have never had it. It didn’t work for me at all. I just have a huge gap in my memory now and I know it is never going to come back. The other people that I know of who had it only had the depression leave for only a short period of time. I don’t recommend it to anybody. Look into neurofeedback. Good luck!

  4. I have learned about it in my Mental Health class. For some people it does work however, in other cases there were only minimal benefits. The facts about this procedure is, one will never know if they do not try. Please keep us posted on the situation. Why is this treatment being considered?  What is the diagnosis? schizophrenia, depression? I There are different results with different diagnosis. Good Luck!
