Has anybody heard anything about the salary cap ramifications of the Favre trade on the Jets?

I imagine Brett isn't playing for the NFL minimum. This close to the season, it has to put the Jets close to the cap.

  1. All i know is brett favre cant play for Green bay so hes for Jets now

  2. Pennington actually releived a lot of cap issues, as did Dwayne Robertson who was traded to the Broncos. This is pretty close to the cap, but no worries, the Jets havent done any kinda moves like this EVER.

  3. his last contract signing was in 2001, basically a "lifetime" extension contract

the extension itself pretty much gives favre 10 Mill a season until he stops playing, but i dont know if that contract was voided when he officially retired, or if it was reinstated when he was back into the leagu

if thats the case, the Jets could afford his 10 Mill a year for this season, they have the cap room to do that, and im sure most of that is incentives as well (based on how muc hhe plays)

most likely the 10 Mill is conditional (as is the pick the Jets send the Packers---all depends on his playing time and performance)
