Has anybody heard of a tree that puts out a smell that smells exactly like cotton candy?

I know it sounds weird but i went by a tree in a park and it smelled like cotton candy

Its a carnival tree.

I used to have a Rhododendron that bloomed very early in the spring, with enormous trusses of big pale pink flowers...with the warm scent of cotton candy. Apparently, there are a number of plants that go under this name, so finding the cutting-grown specimen from the same supplier I used would be an issue.
