Snakes, Spiders, Frogs, duck billed platypus.

I once saw a banana spider which they told me would make me very sick if it bit me.

  1. I killed a cobra in my garden - it was messing with my dog - - and other poisonous snakes have come by to visit as well - -

  2. no idea, but Jeff C you are sadly misinformed.

The number of bargirls with HIV is roughly 2.96%, which is on par with the national HIV rate in Thailand.  Bargirls routinely get tested for all types of diseases not just HIV.

There is no 'estimated at' because the figures are known because the girls get tested.  Not every girl at every bar, but certainly more than enough to establish that the rate is well below 30%.

The HIV rate among prostitutes that cater to local men is slightly higher than the national average, and those that cater to the western man is slightly below average.  I would imagine this has to do with stricter testing policies and better education, and nothing else.

I have seen several very large spiders in my house, but nothing poisonous.  a couple poisonous snakes outside, but nothing to get excited about.

  3. I don't know what it was, but I received a bite from some kind of insect that has resulted in about 12 trips to the hospital and I've been told that I will need a minor operation to completely heal from the effects of the bite. This was over three years ago. I don't really get sick, but every so often the area where I received the bite will get inflamed and swollen, it's a real pain in the ***.

  4. There's lots of poisonous animals in Thailand. They have several species of pit viper, related to the water moccasin.  One is a little green snake with a diamond-shaped head.  It hangs from branches in the jungle, and is virtually invisible.  It is very territorial, and will drop on its victims.  It's venom can kill is less than an hour.  Of course the cobras are no cake walk either.

But of all the poisonous species in Thailand, few are more deadly than the Patpong bar girl.  It's estimated that 30% of Thai prostitutes have AIDS.  This doesn't even mention the other iterations of venereal diseases.  Having s*x with these women is far riskier than walking through a snake-infested jungle.

  5. We had and still have too many snakes (any style) in our garden. My husband and our gardener have killed at least 40 in the past years. We don't live in a remote aera but still they keep on coming. Luckely our dogs bark very strange when one is here so we know: Snake Alarm!
