Question:

Has anybody seen a Blackberry tree?

On a recent visit to Canada(Hamilton) i saw what i can only describe as a Blackberry tree......the tree was atleast 10 -12 ft with huge branches and had the green,red and the black berries.....i could swear that it was a blackberry tree....except my sister says blackberries grow

on bushes and didnt let me try any !

Has anyone seen a tree like this? Do blackberries grow on trees too?

  2. It could have been a mulberry tree as mulberrys look very like blackberries but are sharper in taste.

  3. Both the blackberry and the mulberry are tasty.

    blackberries grow on  thorny vines and mulberries grow on trees.

    they are both similar in appearance

  4. Blackberries grow on a vine-like bush that sends out long thin stems. It is nothing like a tree and cannot be pruned to look like a tree.

    It is more likely that the tree you saw was a mulberry. The fruit are similar in look, but not in taste. See picture below

  5. Well I don't have too much experience in gardening, but maybe it was a really tall shrub that they had clipped into a tree? I can't think of any other black, green, and red berries. And I am not too sure about this answer: I have heard of vines that kill the tree and just live there instead, so it looks like a ___ tree. But I'm not sure if blackberries grow on vines...

  6. You saw a mulberry tree.  The berries do look similar to blackberries, although they're not nearly as tasty as a blackberry.

    Birds love mulberries.  Then they love to stain your sidewalk and car...
