  1. Salvia Divinorum was traditionally used by curandera (shamans, medicine men) in mexico for the purposes of divination/healing for a long long time. (I have not heard S.Div being used by the chinese but as there are many different Salvia's (sage) it is possible a different Salvia was used in chinese medecine).

Remember, Salvia is a respected entheogen and should be treated as such. Set and setting are very important and will effect the depth of your experience.

Always have a sitter (someone to watch over you just in case of accident's) It can be very intense but does not last for very long when compared to other entheogens such as mushrooms.

Go to Erowid for trip reports for an idea what to expect.

Basically....you will know when you have had a breakthrough experience. It can be scary, eye opening, funny, otherwordly and can turn your perceived reality of the world on it's head for a short period of time.

I have met entities, travelled along sound, been pulled into the mechanics of the universe (or my mind I'm not sure) and these are just the tame trips.

Don't fight it, go with the flow and enjoy.
