I know a number of kids who have chosen this route.

Their public school diplomas did not help them any more than completing their education as homeschoolers.  

Think about your reasons for wanting to return to school.

If you are using a public charter online school then this would work. If you are doing homeschooling where you are on your won, most high schools would not count any of your work done at home. This has been my experience in California. Other states may be different.
