Has anybody tried hanging a bag of salt on their electric meter?

I heard the other day that hanging a bag of rock salt around your electric meter would alter the magnetism and reduce your bill. Has anybody else heard of anything like that?

I'm retired from Con Ed, the rock salt in the sock will slow down the electric meter to some degree. The more the rock salt the slower the meter.
