I will be visiting Bari from the 23rd until the 25th of March, during my trip in Italy. All good tips about places to see are wlcomed. Also a bit curious about the nightlife as we plan to party a bit there with my friends. Suggestions about good and affordable places where to eat are more than welcomed.

  1. The area is very central to some good locations.  It is an easy drive Pompeii, where you can view the ruins of an ancient volcanic eruption.  It is also very close to Arbelabello (sp) which has a villiage of really cool stacked stone houses that are believed to be linked to the oldest civilization in the area.  While there, you can sample many local wines and liquors.  In near by Gratalia, you can shop for hand made pottery.  There has to be over 100 shops in this small town selling the stuff.  If you are in to the club scene, check out the Monopoli area on the coast, but only after midnight.  The clubs are normaly open from midnight to 6:00am.  This seems to be prime party time for the Italaians.  A lot of them are outdoor discotechs.  They have only a cement wall around the club.  everything else inside is very similar to a normal club except for the grass and no roof.  The food is very resonable if you aren't picky about a fancy place.  Even some of the higher end food, I found very affordable.  If you have time you can go down to Brindisi and catch a ferri to Albania or Greece and snoop around for the day.  Gioa del Colle has some of the best Mozzerella cheese in the area if you find yourself traveling through there.  No matter where you go, watch out for pick pockets.
