Has anybody worked at Butlins Minehead?

Question

I am not sure what to expect at Butlins Minehead, I have a temp summer job their in a few days time.

My role involes the Red Bar and never done Bar work before. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Is Minehead anygood? What is the staff accomadation like also and is it worth me bringing anything?

I am coming from the Midlands and on the M5 a sign says exit at junction 24 although a route planner says 23 is quickest. Only when I got off at 23 I got stuck behind a tractor and had to avoid floods recently. Which junction is the better option?

minehead is a dump m8...even the sea s hitty brown,really depressing place..junc 24.

i live in weston super mare which is an hour away from there(my home town a dump 2!)people from this area dont like to shop in their own town but go to other areasi.e taunton.

ok butlings has a really good reputation for its adult weekends but thats the only thing people go there for,and i think this time of year there is no adult weekends as its the kids holiday season.but i now i make it sound awful but you make it what you want with the new friends you,ll make.good luck!

Google earth recommends coming off at junction 23;

"At junction 23, take the A39 exit to Bridgwater/A38/Glastonbury/Wells"

Can't comment on working at Butlins as I have never been there. I am sure it'll be pretty easy work. Minehead has some lovely beaches though so I'm sure you'll have a good time.

I just came back from there today!  I think you will have to work hard but all the staff seem to have fun!

I havn't worked there, but my Daughter did, a couple of years ago, and she said she would rather have her nails pulled out than go back there again.

We were at Minehead for a wedding at the weekend, and I was shocked at how the place has gone down, it was FULL of horrible chavy people, amusement arcades, and "Blackpoolish" it is cheap, and tacky, and not a nice place at all, but the surrounding area's are gorgeous, and although we stayed at a B&B in Minehead, we only went in to the town once, in 4 days (that was enough)

The accomodation for guests at Butlins is pretty poor, but for the workers, it's DIRE, you will need a miracle, I don't know about anything else.BE PREPARED TO ROUGH IT!! Good luck, you're gonna need it!!

EDIT  It's not easy work at all!!! My daughter had just 2 days off a fortnight, and spent most of her time dealing with complaining customers.
