We got a new couch so we have been putting the soft claws / soft paws (I don't know what they are called. I see both online when I search) the nail caps. They have worn them for almost three weeks now and besides them falling off occasionally, everything has been good.
Today, however, one of the cats was running around wildly and playing. I noticed he stopped and started to l**k and bite at the nail cap on his dewclaw. I ran over to see what had happened and it was completed twisted. I was terrified that he had broken his little dewclaw, but luckily the nail cap had just become twisted with most of his nail. We ended up getting it off of him with most of his nail.
He still has a small, pathetic looking nail there and it isn't painful but I'm going to monitor it and definitely keep the soft claw off of it. I'm just worried now. Are these nail caps dangerous? I love my cats more than my couch so if it comes down to it, I will forgo having a nice couch for their safety.
