Question:

Has anyone actually seen a scholarship for an ACT score?

I took the ACT about three years ago. I got a 31 composite score and I'm really hoping it can get me some scholarships. Everyone says it can, but I can't seem to find any that say, "HEY! YOU WITH THE GOOD SCORE ON THE ACT! Here's some free money!"

Anyone know of these scholarships? Any direction in finding them really would help.

  1. Well, you could google scholarships and read the requirements for each one that turns up.  Or you could as the financial aid office at your college.

  2. At University of Illinois and Purdue I have seen scholarships for people with a 32 or higher ACT and around a 3.8 unweighted GPA. I haven't seen one for a 31 yet, sorry.

But congratulations on your 31 anyways, I'm sure it will help you get into college.

  3. A lot of state universities, especially in the midwest, offer money for students who get a 31 composite or higher.  I don't know much about it, since I'm going to a private school in a different state, but a few of my friends who are going to state universities have gotten a couple thousand dollars in scholarship--I think the scholarship is called Bright Flight.

I would check with the school(s) you're looking at and see if they offer merit scholarships.  Better yet, check their financial aid site.  If they do offer money for a high ACT score, they probably have information about it there.
