Has anyone adopted a child from China?

If you have how is the process, is it long? Overall expense? How is it in China, is it safe? My mom wants to adopt a child from China, since the cyclone, we wanted to save a child.

How sad...thousands of children here in America need homes and people are running halfway around the world to get children. So many of these children were abandoned too. So what happens to these children. They just rot away in the country's legal system and then at 18 years of age thrown out in the streets. Why is it that Americans are always trying to save the world except for their own. Home should always be taken care of first and then you go elsewhere to help solve other country's problems. I am not saying that the Chineses children need less love but the Chinese government needs to look into taking care of their home first too.
