Has anyone attended a Direct Buy Warehouse Open House?

I was just wondering if anyone had attended one and if it is a deal or does it cost a fortune to join. They keep sending me information in the mail and I am tempted to go see what it is but am afraid of getting roped into a bad deal.

I attended one about 7 years ago and I actually joined and was told that I could not change my mind about joining that there was no three day clause in the contact to cancel which by law there is in all contracts, so I ended up spending at that time around $400.00+ to join and then it was about $99.00+ a year to keep my membership, I wanted to join because I had just purchased a new home and wanted things at cost, well I gave them a check and went home and reviewed everything, then I tried to call several times to cancel no one ever called me back and I finally called the bank and put a stop payment on my check and I actually had a fax number to the business so I faxed them a copy back of the contract canceling it, I never heard from them again, to me at that time it was a scam, my advice to you is just be careful and buyer beware of these kind of scams.

Do some quick research on these guys & you'll want to stay as far away as you can from them.  All they want is to grab a

"non refundable" fee of $3000 out of you.  They may supply the catalogues to browse through for your hard earned dollars, but arranging for delivery is between you & the company you're purchasing from.  If there is problems, their contract assumes no responsibility of any kind.

DirectBuy franchisees have a stated policy that, if you attend the sales presentation (a.k.a. "Open House") and you do not become a member then and there, you may not become a DirectBuy member for 7 years.

My recommendation is therefore that only those people who are already absolutely and positively convinced that they want to purchase a DirectBuy membership (typically around $5k) should attend the DirectBuy Open House.
