Has anyone been at the Motorcycle Race at Monterey, CA?

My husband got VIP tickets for the motorcycle race on July 20. Has anyone been there? any girls? is there anything fun to do besides looking at the rides???

VIP is the way to go. For regular people, access to the track on race day is a bit of a hassle. Laguna Seca is trying hard, but they still can't accommodate the size of crowd that MotoGP attracts. Plus, VIP's get shade, refreshments and closed circuit TV to follow the race. Everyone else has to bake in 100+ degree sun out on a dusty hill sides (grand stand seating is so limited). There is paddock to check out, vendor village, Ducati island and more. Overall, great experience.

Yes I go every year and it is quite an event. The racing is an incredible spectacle. The paddock area is full of Umbrella Girls which are models in vinyl with umbrellas and of course the celebs wandering around.

Also...

Remember it is in Monterey and there is a lot to do there. They have the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium on Cannery Row which makes itself into an amazing spectacle every night during  the 3 day event.

Cannery Row has great restaurants, bars and lots of people not too mention all of the sport bikes and their riders.

If you hate motorcycles and people who ride them you won't have much fun.

Otherwise it is an absolute blast.

I've been the last 7 years, not going this year however. There is those races they have going on which are kinda nifty. They've been having a concert that last 2 years on sat night (kinda lame in opinion). Theres the paddock to wander thru, and the vendors, Cannery row, and a bunch of interesting local rides: South on hwy 1 thru Big Sur, Santa Cruz Mt's, Laurelis grade, Carmel Valley road, etc. We go early ride all week, then spend Fri Sat Sun at the track. We camp at the track the whole time.

it's one big party for 3 days, i recommend camping there instead of finding a motel room , also at nite you can travel down to fisherman's wharf or Carmel for dinner,

i have and if u go u will have a lot of fun and do NOT go if u do not like celebs and racing and bikes
