Question:

Has anyone been bedridden.....?

I was given an order yesterday to be on bed rest until the end of my pregnancy (currently 25 weeks with twins) but realistically I get more peace sitting with my feet propped up looking at a computer all night at work then at home. Should I just keep off my feet at home and still go to work? If I leave work now I will have to return within a month or two after the twins are born and during that time off I will have no paycheck which financially isn't good for us right now. I have read that there is no scientific evidence that supports bed rest makes a difference. What do you think or what is your experience on this topic?

  1. Do what you think is right, the doc wouldn't have put you on bedrest if he wasn't worried about you, atleast try to take it easy for the next 4 or 5 weeks so the little babies lungs can develop.. with twins it is so much more likely to have them pre mature.  But you are being realistic, it isn't possible to stay in bed with a toddler.  And i can relate to the not getting paid maternity that sucks and i have no idea what I'm going to do when i have my baby.  I have also had lower back pain and pelvic pain,I'm 31 weeks and i go to the doc tomorrow, I'm afraid he will put me on bed rest because i absolutely can not miss work under any circumstancess, until this baby is born.. if i do I'm fired.  So if he did i would probably go back to work anyway, and just take it alot easier when I'm at home or off work, like no more trips to the park with my son or hangin out at friends houses, or swimming.  I have a sit down job so its not like I'm stressing my body.  But then again I'm only having a single baby, so i am not as worried as you should be..  but there are many things you can cut down on to relieve stress on the body, and a room full of toys an some good cartoons can keep the toddler occupied while you lay in bed.    But as you said it has not been proven that bed rest makes any difference, but for your sake i really do hope the little tikes will hang on a little longer in the womb.. gl!
