My co-worker has been called and is looking for sure fire ways to avoid being picked for the trial. She is very nervous and does not want to be involved in it in anyway. Can you please give us some tips?

  1. Talk to the Judge on the side, very nicely, and see what He or She says, they are Human you know.{I think!}

  2. federal court is not like state or municipal,   play games there and you can get locked up for contempt.

    i was called for a murder trial and a woman who did not read english told the judge that she did not answer the questions. the judge said, you signed that you did.  she replied, my daughter read the questions and wrote what i told her to say.

    the judge put her in jail on contempt of court for signing a sworn statement that these were her own words written by her until the trial ended.

    don't play games at the federal level, they are not of the mood for it.  much court time is tied up with legal manuvering and you don't want to call attention to yourself....not a good thing.

  3. She doesn't want a bench warrant.   She should go.

    If she wants to avoid being chosen, she should be prepared for the questions asked.  "Can you be impartial...etc?"  Answer: "No, I figure anyone charged is probably guilty".

    Or "Are you personally aquainted with the Defendant?" Answer  "I don't know the name, but he looks just like a guy that groped me at a basketball game about six months ago".
