Has anyone been in an automobile accident?

I have been driving for over 20 years and have never had an accident. Knock on wood. I see terrible auto accidents all the time and wonder what it is like to be in one and how they were treated by the emergency room and ambulance.

Any stories?

I was forced off the road when I was 16 by another driver coming in the wrong direction..........stayed in the hospital for 2 days and then came out of a coma, they never found the other driver.........

I was hit head on by an 82 yr old man who was less than 3 blocks from his house. He told the cops he was not aware that he was completely on the wrong side of the road. this wreck happened right in front of a TV station- I didn't even make the 6:00 news. The old man also made road kill out of my VW Rabbit with his Oldsmobile.

I was hit by a driver that came from a side street, luckily no-one was hurt. But getting the cars towed and the insurance run around was terrible. Not to mention time off work, to pick up a hire car. If I ended up in hospital it would have been a nightmare.

I have been in two. The first one was the worst. I was making a left turn at a really bad intersection and a lady came flying around the curve and hit me. My car was totalled but luckily I walked away with no injuries. The police officer kept asking me if I was I was okay. My neck hurt a little bit and I was a little shook up but other that I felt fine. The officer told me that I was lucky to be standing there talking to him because most of the time when the car looks as bad as mine did there are usually injuries or a fatality.

The second accident happened almost a year after the first one. A lady rear ended me at a stop light. She had a small child in the back seat and got distracted and she did not realize that the traffic was slowing down. No one got hurt.

I have been in 2, one of them was really bad. on that one, the tow truck got there before the police or the ambulance!!! LOL!

But...I was treated well by the responders and the hospital. I was hit head on by a drunk driver and they knew I was not at fault, but they were a little harsh with the drunk driver and righly so.

If it weren't for the nurses, I would have been scared to death. they expalined everything and took care of me,. the police were nice too, the officer taught me how to walk on crutches :0))

1st accident: re-ended by a drunk driver, didn't go to ER, had stiff neck 4 days later, went to chiropractor and found out it was severe whiplash

2nd accident: re-ended by an idiot who didn't stop at a red light, was knocked out but only for a few seconds, felt fine, didn't go to ER until following day, found out I had post concussion syndrome from hitting head on head rest, severe whiplash

I've seen accidents where people were killed or seriously injured.
