I'm looking to get some feedback about their experience. Any advice you have to offer is also appreciated.

  1. DO NOT GO NCL!!!!!  They are the WORST cruise line ever.  I went on a celebrity cruise and before I went I was researching cruise lines and I found nothing but horror stories about NCL.

One person said their whole ship was infested with bed bugs.

Another person said that when they checked in and finally got to their room, the room was dirty and still had trash and stains from the last people who were in that room.

They are considered the dollar store of cruise lines.

Their commericial makes you think that other cruises are bad and make you robot like with their set times but that is so not true.  They make like they are the best cruise line because of free style cruising when it is the worst.

My friend knew someone who went on NCL once and they never went on NCL again after that.  They only have 5 resturants and each only hold about 70 people, and if you don't pick your dinner times ahead of time then you are stuck having dinner at 11pm.

  2. I am one of those people who has made it her personal mission to divert as much business away from NCL as possible.  I wrote an extensive review of the NCL Spirit on cruise critic (rgiudice is the name it's under).  Other lines sail out of the east coast.  Save your money and go with another cruise line.  Hopefully you will enjoy your trip.  Listen to the good people telling you to stay away from NCL!!!!

    Good luck with your vacation!

  3. I too have heard many bad things about NCL.  That said, they recently launched a massive upgrade initiative.  They're spending $ 1 BILLION to improve their ships and dining.  It'll be in place by June.

I don't know that this will be money well spent, or "lipstick on a pig."

Personally, I wouldn't book NCL now, but I for one will be listening with interest to reviews written AFTER June 1st.

  4. I don't know why these other people are complaining. I had a great time. My husband and I went Boston-Bermuda on the Majesty in 2005 and we absolutely loved it. The food was spectacular, the stateroom was adequate, staff was smiley and the boat itself (which isn't even one of their good boats) always had something amazing planned. We enjoyed it so much that we're going on the Dawn out of New York (much  nicer ship) to Bermuda again at the end of may.

Bermuda is great too! Lots to do and see, very clean, friendly people... good stuff!

  5. NCL seems to be one of the cruise lines that you either love or hate.  I know someone who did many Carnival cruises [often basked by people as chintzy] and tried NCL for a change.  She said, "If Carnival is the WalMart of cruises, then NCL is the Dollar Store!"  I've never been tempted to try it because the reviews I've read said the cabins are small, the service is spotty, and the food is terrible.

That being said, you can go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Reviews" and read "Member Reviews" [as well as pro reviews] for any cruise ship.  You might also want to look at "Boards", then the "NCL" board.
