Has anyone been on a cruise leaving Florida in August?

I saw a reasonable cruise set to sail out of Miami in August of next year. I'm not sure if I would want to book it being that it's hurricane season and all. I live in northern Florida and last year's season wasn't all that bad. If anyone has ever been on a cruise leaving out of Florida please tell what the weather was like. Was it stormy or calm seas or whatever. Please let me know. Thanks.

I have sailed several times in the summer and the seas were just fine.  I have a friend that goes on many cruises and he sailed right after a hurricane and you would think the ocean would be all churned up but it was not.  He said it was like glass.  It is a worry, look into trip insurance.  Our problem was we live in Ft. Lauderdale and if we have just been involved in a storm there may be things that need to be attended to at the home front.  When we went on the Freedom of the Seas the staff told us that being on the ship is the safest place because they go around the storm.  I just pray no more storms, I am still putting my house back together from the last one.
