  1. QM2 is a fab vessel - haven't been on a Med cruise but have crossed the Atlantic.  It is very opulent and is not as crowded as the "popular" cruise boats.

If you choose to eat in the Britannia Grill at night, the food and service are superb but you will be expected to dress up on certain evenings (they have some evenings where there is a black tie code, some suits and some casual).  If you don't like dressing up you can always eat in one of the several self service restaurants - your choice and its all included.

There are also several bars and the prices are surprisingly reasonable as everything on board is priced in American $.  We had a bottle of Champagne in the Veuve Cliquot bar one evening and it cost no more than you would pay to buy one in Tesco!

  2. I've been to the Mediterranean on a Princess cruise and it was wonderful. I was rather surprised at the crazy drivers in Italy. They just zip around on there scooters like your standing still. I loved Rome, Venice,& Greece the most. We took tours with the cruise ship and they handeled everything. Since you are going on the Queen, your service, your food, everything should be the best. Have a wonderful trip.

  3. for a first cruise l recommend Ocean Village 1 or 2 the QM is very formal dress whereas OV is casual dress

  4. Not been on it yet...but if it is anything like the QE2 which is going out of commision it will be superb. I doubt if you will be able to fault any of the Queens, as everything including all the Staff, is there for your pleasure., and the Staff are the supreme work people you will ever meet on any Cruise. Go and enjoy as you will not be disapointed. Have a lovely time, with all of your family. You will all want to go again...!!

  5. We went on Ocean Village two around the Med and was very disappointed with the cruise and also the action ashore team.the places visited was a very expensive add on to see the sites.ie to visit Rome cost an additional 85pounds extra each.To visit Florence was also 65pounds each.tHE WAY WE WERE SHOWN fLORENCE WAS LIKE A LONDON HALF MARATHON.I MANAGED TO GET A 20POUNDS REFUBD.The half day trip round MONTE CARLO cost another 45pounds and was not value for money PLEASE dont get me wrong the places we saw were fantastic and a once in a lifetime memory and anot to be missed but be prepared to get ripped off by the action ashore teams
