  1. I thought I the first answer was one of the best but I feel something very important was left out. Take toilet paper or baby wipes whatever for bathroom stops and hand sanitizer. I write this because I've traveled many many times on roads of Costa Rica by bus. These 2 things are on the top of my essential list which also includes bottled water.

  2. La península de Osa is a very beautiful place, my favorite, but you will spend a lot of time to go tjhere.

The ride is not scary, the roads are safe not the best roads but it is safe.

Enjoy you will love Costa Rica

  3. Yes, the roads are safe, not scary at all. It´s a lil´ tired though, the buses are not that comfy but u´ll get used to it, u know. The bus makes like 2 or 3 stops along the road, so u can have something to eat, stretch  ur legs, etc... make sure u bring along water, crackers, fruits ´cause as u said it´s a long trip but don´t worry, it´s all worth it! Peninsula de Osa it´s one of the most beautiful places of Costa Rica!

  4. If I were you I would take the bus to Golfito about 7-8 hours spend the nite and take a ferry boat to Puerto Jiminez in the morning.  Enough bus is enough.  Other option is to fly Sansa   San Jose to Puerto Jimenez.  about an hour.
