This is the second question I have posted in here so far. I wanted to know if anyone as a couple or single has been to Costa Rica? Another question. My husband wants to take me there along with 3 other people that we know and we are staying at a place to which one of the people that we know has a sister who owns this place. It is furnished with everything. Four bedroom close to the beach with 3 bathrooms, except for one thing, we have to supply our own food. So, my question is, are the foods in Costa Rica really good to eat? What are the standards? Sorry for so many questions, but we never been there and all we need to do is buy our airline tickets to get there and everything else is free! Just worried about the foods there. I mean is there anything else besides rice and beans?

Okay, I just need to stay calm about this and I am sure that my husband would just like to get away to be alone in this place and spend some great time with eachother at the beach. Just worried about the food

  1. Costa Rica is very civilized. Good restaurants - even the cheap ones; well stocked supermarkets with a wide range of foods; interesting roadside stalls selling local fruits and vegetables. My wife and I had some of the best and most reasonable priced meals of our life in CR. Most memorable was a whole snapper in banana leaves grilled on an open fire at a beachside restaurant. With the waves breaking and the moon above it was magical. As one of the other respondents says, the beer is excellent and the coffee exceptional. And don't knock rice and beans -- they get really imaginative with rice and beans in CR.

By the way -- don;t just spend your time at the beach. Visit some nature parks. CR has some of the most spectacular birds, animals and plant life in the world.

  2. Don't fret! I go there at least once a year and have never starved yet!

Their cities have Super Markets very much like America does and probably with the same variety of produce, meats, fish, chicken, etc. etc. etc.- if not more.

And a great variety of fantastic exotic Tropical Fruits!

If you know anything at all about cooking and can handle yourself in the kitchen you can have the time of your life there!

Especially if you are a Sea Food Lover and you are going to be close to the beach!

The only time this would be a problem is if you are going to be way out in the back woods of Costa Rica quite removed from anyone!

Get ready for the Finest and Best Coffee and Beer in the Whole world! - and when you go - take one of the biggest traveling bags you have to bring as much of it back as you can!

I always bring at least a case of the Beer and about twenty pounds of the coffee with me since their Beer runs about $2.60 for a six pack of Imperial/Imperial Light, and about $2.75 for a POUND of their coffee!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck & VIVA LA PURA VIDA!

  3. you name it they got it  meat  fish         pasta   enjoy seems like if the place you are staying at  its completely furnished   go to the shop buy what you feel like eating cook your own    enjoy   ;)-
