  1. el salvador well what can i tell you im here and well i can tell you its safe its not dangerous at all some people make it sound terrible and you will come to find that its completely the opposite people here are so kind & friendly well i think youll be fine anywhere you go but just incase use regular precautions like you would use in the united states or anywhere and well ill give you a couple of el salvador tourist websites because what i can remember from here is not as much as there is to see i can tell you go to la costa del sol, cuco, el tamarindo, las tunas and we have some islands that are good for tourism like isla olomega and isla el cajete etc... have fun on your trip here!

  2. yes i,ve been there twice and it is a real beautiful country.just use common travel sense and be careful around the cities,it's also a good place to get americian dollars for travel to surrounding central americian countries,

  3. if you like the beaches you should go to the costa del sol and if you want suverniers you should go to ilobasco they have a lot of pretty hand made things. if you dont have family over there to take you places i would recomend a tour guide thingy cuz they know where to go and not to go cuz there are some dangerous places hopes this helps.

  4. I went to El Salvador this summer and spent 6 weeks there. I was visiting my girlfriend who lives in San Salvador. It is a beautiful country and the people are very kind. Her family lives in the southwestern part of the city, so we mostly stayed around that area. From what they told me, that area is generally pretty safe. There are several malls in the area such as Multiplaza and La Gran Via. Her family does not go to the downtown area of the city (where the open air market is) because they consider it to be too dangerous. We did drive through there and it was a little scary because there are many carjackings in the city and we were stuck in bumper to bumper traffic with people walking all around and through the traffic.

Like mentioned in an answer above, Ilobasco is a nice town with a lot of crafts. I also really enjoyed the town of Juayua (just north of Sonsonate) which has a really nice and safe open air market. The ruins at Tazumal (west of Santa Ana) are fairly neat and there are several souvenir stands right outside where you can get a bargain.

I would suggest hiring a tour guide if you do not know someone from there, because they would probably know which areas to stay away from. There is so much more I can say, so if you want to know anymore you can just email me if you want.     arkansasrazorbacks@hotmail.com

  8. I'm from El Salvador. It's a wonderful place to be!

With all the farm animals, trees, inactive volcanoes, mountains, etc. I'm planning to go there tomorrow.
