  1. I went last January by myself and was staying at what most people would classify as being "budget resorts."  You may want to check out Oarsmans Bay and Octopus Resort-- these are the only places I stayed that would be appropriate to bring a family, although they don't have actual 'kids programs'.  I did meet a few families at Oarsmans Bay while I was there though, and everyone (including the kids) seemed to be having a lot of fun.    They are both small resorts (especially Oarsmans Bay) and are very secluded and private with stunning beaches.

I paid about $40US per night to stay in a dorm room.  That included all of my meals, but it did not include drinks.  I'd think you'll probably be looking at around that as a per-person rate at the budget resorts when you're looking at the family accomodation.   May be less for the kids because their meal plans will be cheaper probably.

Make sure wherever you go, you get to an island off the 'main' island.  Don't stick around Nadi (where you'll fly into).

As far as your flights... check out Air Pacific.  They were, by far, the cheapest airline when I checked fares out (flying from the US).  See if you can get student fares for the kids... no idea if they'll do that or not.  I actually bought my Air Pacific tickets through STA Travel and that was the only way to get student fares.  It may be worth a phone call to see if they can issue the fares to your kids.  :)   I think I paid about $1100 for my round trip plane ticket from Los Angeles, but that was round-trip to New Zealand with a 1 month stop-over in Fiji.

    Hope this helps!

  2. firstly, where are you from?

ive been A LOT, and spent many months there.

flying pacific blue from australia is cheapest, but you can get cheap packages that includes accom, flights, transfers and meals. around 1200 per adult.

you should check out talpacific.com. they have good cheap packaged specials.

fiji is great. perfect for familys, and you get the good weather AND to experience another culture.

the naviti is a good idea for a cheap family resort. very popular. or hideaway.
