  1. been to both. They are tourist traps and you are wasting your money. Get a hotel or motel close to where you live and spend a few quiet days alone.

  2. I have been to both.  I would strongly recommend a "non french" island.  Barbados, St. Martin, St. Lucia are all wonderful.  Even Grenada...  anywhere down in the Caribbean are great, but the french islands are expensive, not friendly, stuck up...  Enjoy!!!!

  3. I have been to both and found them delightful in every way. I didn't meet any of the unfriendly, stuck-up people mentioned by another answerer: on the contrary, I found them charming, approachable and helpful, including the people at the church we attended who insisted on exchanging kisses with every member of the congregation at the end of the service!

The islands are beautiful and it is easy to visit both. There is a very reasonably priced ferry service which plies between St Lucia and the two French islands, including the tiny island of Ste Marie Galante, and also, out of hurricane season, Dominica. http://www.express-des-iles.com/

Martinique is the more sophisticated of the two, but Guadeloupe has a wonderful wildness about it. I have fond memories of Plantation Leyritz on Martinique, which would be perfect for a honeymoon. They even have four poster beds!  It is also convenient for the St James rum distillery. http://www.fodors.com/world/caribbean/ma...

They are lovely, lovely islands and I can thoroughly recommend them.

  4. anywhere in the Carribean is beautiful...make sure you have spare French Phrasebook!!lol..
