  1. I'd like to see it.  The last time I was in Berlin, it was still in the Eastern Zone so I could not have seen it, even if it had NOT been burried under a parking lot and closed to the public.

I think it would be interesting.  I've been to the war room in London and, or course, I've been in the Pentagon more times than I would care to admit... but I think the Furrenbunker would be interesting to see.

  2. Hitler's bunker does not really exist any more.  All you really see is where it used to be.  Be careful, there are a number of places that claim to be it.  I studied in Berlin with the Goethe Institut and went on a walking tour with a history professor from one of the Universities in Berlin, and he took us to where it once was.  I believe, given his credentials, that where he took us was correct, but it was not exactly either very interesting or chilling.

I can recommend, nearby, two other Holocaust related sites - the Topographie des Terrors exhibit, and the Holocaust Memorial.  Go see them!

Another thing, if you want daytrips, is that you can, from Berlin visit the Wannsee house, where the final solution was decided, and Sachsenhausen Concentration camp.  They are the end stations on the S-Bahn in opposite directions, and actually in Brandenburg, and of course, worthwhile to visit.

  3. I was in Berlin four times, but I didn't go there. I don't want to see this place.

  4. The Hitler bunker was blown and covered many years ago fearing it would become a shrine for neo-n***s. Whatever was left of it underground will probably never be accessed again as the site of the old Chancellery is now an apartment complex and there is new construction over where the bunker used to be. This is no a period of their history Germans are eager to highlight but as the older generation dies away there's a new freedom to talk about the Hitler years. Whether the bunker will ever become a tourist site is for another generation to deal with. For now Germans will keep it buried.

  5. it depends on which one you want there was many in Berlin..........But the one on TV that everyone sees is kinda cool...but then again if you seen it on tv its exactly the same as in person so dont waste your time....its better to go to Nuremburg area and look at the underground tunnels and stuff they were going to use as a factory for war materials.
