Never been, would love to but I am hesistant to travel to Venezuela with Chavez in power. I've heard so many things...anyway, isla Margarita is a very nice place and people used to go a lot in the 70's and 80's. Try and find more about it in www.tripadvisor.com people post their comments and pictures there.

Yep been twice, once for honeymoon in 98 and again last year with three kids. Stayed in the Playa El Agua and the Isla Magarita. Wonderful time both times. You can stay all inclusive luxury or you could hire a car and find a posada and enjoy the island. There is loads of stuff to do we swam with dolphins at mundo mar. there's high class shopping too.

As far as Chavez goes, don't worry you can fly into and out of the main airport missing downtown Caracas. Margarita is totally geared for tourists you shouldn't have any problems.

it's an awsome place to have vacations in or to live in

and soon there are lots of celebrations there

the shopping centers and everything is great

it's a place of fun and happy days

and it's lovely

mom says if we were to go back live forever in venezuela

we would definetly be staying in margarita

it's the best place to go to in Venezuela

hello don't worry about Chavez, he is a clown, you can come whenever you want, there is no problem with him. My boyfriend is from Venezuela and we're planning to go to Isla Margarita, he tells me its one of the most beautiful places in Venezuela...highly recommended...Have Fun!!!
