  1. Weather in negril in may is typically perfect. The most you will have to face is afternoon rain.

RIU Negril is fabulous. I actually booked through a family member in ATL.

  2. I go a few times a year to Negril.. I have stayed at RIU Club hotel.. I got a great rate thru Orbitz last year.. It's a bit far from the beach action as it's in Bloody Bay.. The beach front isn't my favorite.. I like the area between the RIU's. It's a public beach there but it's just prettier, to me at least.. I actually wound up grabbing a cab across the street and going to the main beach, Long Bay, everyday. My son loved the foodthere, as it's plentiful. Good drinks, decent food, and they do try very hard with the entertainment. It's a touristy feel to Jamaica. Not a true Jamaican vibe. Although I did see many Jamaicans on vacation there. And I guess even the PM has stayed there, or so I was told by one of the waitresses. She told me thats when they usually stock sweet cream. But thats another story. I put up a review with pictures around the beginning of September 2007 on Trip Advisor.

Negril is great. Plenty to see and do. Mayfield Falls is a little over an hour away, YS Falls about 2 hours away. Both very beautiful. I lean towards Mayfields tour a little more though.

Negril has great nightlife, if you like seeing reggae bands on the beach. And has a nightclub, The Jungle. The main beach road has all your hotels, restaurants and bars. All a short cab ride from RIU's.

There is a really good map of Negril in there.

    Good Luck!

***The Pickled Parrot is long gone. The Rockhouse bought the property and put villas on it. Pirates Cave is right next door to the Rockhouse and is a great place to jump from the cliffs and grab a few drinks. Not as touristy as Rick's Cafe, but being your first time Rick's is a must see. At least for a drink and to watch the divers. M-Ville is okay, touristy, loud and it used to have a smell to it, but last time I was by there it didn't stink. Just can get very crowded, and is not cheap unless you do the all inclusive band for drinks. M-ville is on Long Bay. They have a shuttle that will pick you up if you call them.. Or just go to the street and grab a cab.. NEGOTIATE FIRST!!!! and red plates only..

  3. My friends honeymooned at Couples Negril and LOVED it.  We are going to Couples Swept Away which is also in Negril in April.  I can't wait!   We love all inclusive resorts for couples only (we were at Sandals Whitehouse for our honeymoon) it's the way to go.  We booked through a AAA travel agent.

  4. It's cracking!!!!

The pickled parrott and margaritaville are worth having a look.  The regae bars usually have live music.  The food is wonderful the weather great and the locals were fine with us, we spent a month there on Noman Manley Boulevard - so nice, but I've already told you all of this haven't I?!?!?

Have a good one snuffles - bring me back some jerk chicken!

    Heidi will miss you

    Kez xxxx
