Has anyone been to Montelimar, France? What's it like?

I'm thinking of going there for about a month in July/August. Is there much to do there for a 20-something trying to pick up French or will I be bored?

  1. I just LOVE this region, especially during the summer, as it is my natal region. Montelimar smells the Provence, (it's the nougat's capital), the lavender, the sun, the good provencal cuisine, the little villages in the surroundings, where you can drink a "pastis" on the main place of the village ... I love to spend all my WE in the region. During the WE evenings, there are a lot of parties in the villages. Don't miss the the 14th July, the National day with the traditionnal Firemen Bal, always a very good party !

Try all the gastronomical specialities, visit the many castles, churches, go to Valence (north), in the Ardèche (Vallon Pont-d'Arc), to Nyons (the french capital of the olives), and to Avignon, Orange, Carpentas, so much historical monuments, so much beautiful landscapes ...  don't stay all the time in Montelimar, take time to discover the Provence, don't hesitate to rent a car. Speak with the locals, they will be happy to explain you their region.

For further information, go to the official website of Montelimar and the official french government tourist office web site.

Have fun and Bienvenue en Provence (Welcome in Provence).

    Salut !
