  1. Please take me with you wen you move there I will clean your house

  2. Bonjour ! je suis française, born and bred in Paris !

Of course, I will say it's the most wonderful town to live in ! lol

But there is a hic, it's quite expensive !

not at bad as London, mind you ! but nevertheless, be prepared !

although, if you are careful, don't stop at every cafe you see but take a bottle of water in your bag, or walk rather than taking the taxi etc..... it's manageable !

the rents are not too bad, depending on the district you chose of course....

for work too, it depends who you are and what are qualifications !

For sure, you can lose yourself in fashion and shopping !

for that, you can't avoid having lots of money or just watch !

    not easy !

    bonne chance !

  3. Paris is a wonderful city and I love visiting there. I've been vacationing there for over 30 years.

But there are a variety of practical considerations that may militate against moving there.

First and foremost is employment. The French economy is in dreadful shape and unemployment hovers just below 10%. Moreover, unless you are a citizen of an EU country, you don't have the legal right to work in France.

In fact, if you can't prove that you have enough money to support yourself without working, the French government won't give you permission to stay in France longer than 90 days.

Second, while Paris is one of the least expensive European capitals to visit, its still a very expensive place to live.

Third, you don't mention speaking French. Do you have a talent for languages? Will you be able to function in a country where people don't speak English?

  4. I just came back from Paris yesterday, and it is indeed an amazing city with many possibilities, to shop, culture and food. Have been there many times. Would visit first and then deicde if you want to make the "Big" move!

  5. Yes, why not. You can move to Paris. It is really nice place, if you are looking for fashion and shopping. But getting an accommodation , Select out skirts of Paris for your stay. And enter city when ever you required. Even Lyon is a good place to stay, as it in border of Switzerland. You can reach Paris by fast trains quickly. Good luck.

  6. Paris - and the shopping here - is awesome! The dept stores (Printemps, Lafayette, Le Bon Marche) have a bit of everything, even affordable items. The Marais is a great neighborhood, fun to walk around, with a mix of mostly French designers, contemporary and more cutting edge. Many tourists go to Champs-Elysees, but not the French so much; the one dubious highlight is the Louis Vuitton flagship store (I admit it, I visited it, too!).

The big downside to all this shopping is that it is very expensive. If you're American, be prepared, the US dollar is very weak...

If you decide to come, do some research on shopping, there are some good shopping guides out there that'll give you an idea of what neighborhoods and shops will appeal to you; Time Out is one.

I imagine if you are thinking of moving here, it is for more than the shopping? On a trip of 1-2 weeks, you'll see the "major" attractions, maybe some minor ones and get to know the French "way of life." If you live here, you'll do all this, plus have the time to visit all the gems that don't get mentioned and experience for yourself 100x better the way French people appreciate life. I have been in France for over a year, and love it even more now than when I first got here!

Another wonderful thing about Paris is that it's in FRANCE, i.e., the rest of the country is as, if not more, wonderful! Living here you'll have the time to travel, and other places you visit will certainly be cheaper than Paris!

Of course there are practical considerations, too many to be mentioned here. If you are seriously considering coming here, get a good living-in-France guidebook and do your research. For most people (from the States, anyway) the biggest obstacle is the money issue. If you do your homework and plan in advance, you will save yourself a ton of money in the long run.

    Good luck!!
