The Lonely Planet Book had some great words for Playa San Miguel/Playa Coyote which is located in the Nicoya Peninsula. I cannot find alot of traveler reviews/information online however. This could be good as that may mean it is rather untouched by Tourists.

Has anyone been to this location? I was thinking of staying at the The Blue Pelican Inn. Any information on this location would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Hi. I actually lived in Pueblo Nuevo which is about 5 minutes from Playa San Miguel. It is so beauiful and the people there are amazing. (My husband is from there). It is very secluded from the sorrounding cities. About 6 hours from San Jose and 3 hours from Liberia. The Blue Pelican Inn is nice. My friend owns an even nicer place to stay you can look online at cristalazul.com. Her husband, a Tico, does sports fishing and the rates are a little higher than the others but well worth it. Also, if you need to spend a little less try Arca De Noe which is in San Miguel as well and Angelo, the owner has surfer rooms to rooms with a double bed and A/C.  I have stayed there before my move. But for more info I would try to get in touch with Cristal Azul first. You wont see many tourists so it is the perfect place to go. I highly recommend it. You can also travel to Samara and Carrillo which are also incredble. They are about 1.5 hours from San Miguel. You need a 4X4 vehicle for the roads aren't paved and there will be some rivers to cross. But that is the adventure of going to Costa Rica. Hope that helped!
