  1. I was there in July and then in Sept/Oct...... and yes, it does rain in Aug because it's hurricane season but not everyday..... I got a big storm and probably 2-3 rainfalls in a 3 week time span. So I think that's pretty decent. Then in Sept/Oct it didn't rain at all during my stay. Even if it rains the weather continues to be pretty decent, and it might rain hard for a while but then it all goes back to normal. So it shouldn't be such a big deal except if there's a hurricane by the time you're there -- it can get ugly. But hurricanes very rarely hit this side of our coastline......... so I wouldn't take this as a reason for not going there during the summer. Vallarta is such a lovely place......

  2. It's the rainy season, but it doesn't rain all day every day.  I was there in August, and it seemed like it would rain from 4pm to 5pm one day, then there might be a day with no rain, then the following night it would rain from 7pm to 8pm followed by another day of no rain.  Then it might rain from 3pm to 4pm; then it might rain again from 9pm to midnight.  So it was like that--on and off--hit and miss.  The best thing to do is to head for the near bar or restaurant and wait it out.  Because if you're walking around El Centro, the water can come down those cobblestones and be ankle deep in a few seconds.

The ocean at that time of the year is brownish because of all the dirt washed out of the hills during the rainy season.

There will be more Mexicans in the hotels than gringos because many Mexicans take their vacations in August and because the room rates are cheaper.

  3. I am in PV for 2-3 weeks every August. Some call me crazy but allow me to explain:

I hail from the US MidWest and have lived in SF for over 3 years so miss those wonderful flashes of downpour and lightning. I love to sit alone or with amigos right off my deck watching the show. It can go several days without rain and the humidity rises such that you pray for a storm, which arrives sooner or later. The actual pouring lasts for as short as a few minutes up to several hours. You may get wet running to where you are headed but the moisture evaporates quickly. Most people do not bother with an umbrella. Many times the rains start with only a few minutes warning so head inside for shopping! The shows are spectacular and the thunder loud and scary sometimes. I love it! And far less crowds, too.

  4. I have been there.

    It IS rain season.

Actually, I live here at Jalisco state; and rain season is summer (from june to september) in our latitud.

  5. I've been there during that time.  It is overcast and does rain often.

    Very humid at times.

    Good luck and have fun
