If so, what would you recommend we do there? Are there any excursions and/or tours that you went to that you really enjoyed? Please share your good (and bad) experiences.

My sister and I are going to Punta Cana in less than 2 weeks and we're looking for fun things to do during our 5 day stay.

BTW - I'm 31 years old and she's 28.

Thanks so much!

  1. Hi B.E.G !,

As a inbound tour operator I suggest that you go to the

1)Saona Island*and if you liked it, 2) the Catalina Island

    3) Las Cuevas de las Maravillas

    4) Alto de Chavon* (near Casa de Campo)

    5) Monster Truck Safari*

The excursions with a * are the excellent ones!!

Before buying the excursions, verify the prices in different

places, most of the time at the hotels they are more expensive. Happy to help you

  2. We really enjoyed the outback safari. Also heard the new zipline is awesome.

  3. i have been at Punta Cana, DR and it all depense on the hotel that you are staying at.  You can go to dolphin island and go and swim with the dolphins and that's what i did was dolphin island but the good thing about dolphin island is that you can feel the dolphin's skin and you get to play with the dolphins.  But you can do alot more like a zipline adventure, Outback Jungle Safari, Bavaro Runners Safari Adventure,  Reef Explorers were you can swim with the stingrays but you don't have to worry they removed the stingrays stingers and you can also see the nurse sharks, Cueva fun-fun tour and here is the information about the tour A 3 hour drive into the interior. This takes you through some large cities and small towns giving you a view of the island you don't even realize exists while on the resort.

A lunch upon arrival at the ranch.

    All equipment is included.

A 40 minute horseback ride to the rainforest.

A 45 minute hike through the rainforest.

A 18m repel into a cave system (discovered as recently as 1997)

A 4 km dry hike through the caves.

A 2 km wet hike through water within the caves including a brief underwater swim.

(The whole cave hike took about 2 hours)

Emerging into the rainforest where another guide waits with water, beer or Coca Cola.

A 30 minute horseback ride back to the ranch.

    A hot lunch/dinner waiting there.

and alot more you can do at the hotel like beach games that they put on and shows that the entertainers do on stage like dancing and getting people to go on stage to go a dance at the end..  I hope this information will help you when you go on your trip to the DR. But one thing before you do don't sing in the shower because the water there is bad and they will have water and pop in the fridge for you when you get there to your room..

  4. I love Punta Cana.  I have been to most of the Carribean Islands and it is one of our favorites.  The beaches are fabulous.  When we were there, we went scuba diving. We had never done it before and there are companies on the island that give you a quick course, first training in a pool , then taking you out in 20-25ft. in the ocean.  It was a memory we will never forget. I highly recommend it to any one who wants to try something different.

  5. There is lots to do especially if the resort is bigger. You can do scuba, snorkeling, tennis, golf....

Manati Park is a fun place to visit. They have dolphin show and exotic bird show.

Also go to Saona Island! This is must see. It is a one day trip but it is worth it! It is amazingly beautiful!!!!!

  6. PUNTA CANA- Second major tourist destination with lots of fun activities like excursions, unfortunately the resorts are far from any major city so it will be difficult for you to know the culture.  This part of the island has not been developed to its fullest, however these places will be nice to look at:

Basicila de Higuey – This is a very nice Architecture building that holds our Lady Mary which we call “Virgen de la Altagracia”. Google the name and you will see pictures of it.

La Romana- very nice town well know for “Altos de Chavon” which is a cultural spot where will find art schools, concerts arena, etc. This link will show you more or less what it is, this is about 1 hour away from Punta Cana

Like I mentioned previously there are many excursion you can go to that are part of the Resort schedules of activities, just ask the front desk.
