Has anyone been to Punta Prima in Menorca?

We are thinking of going with two small children. Is it an ideal place for kids? What is the area generally like in terms of the beach, shops and restaurants. If not Punta Prima, can anyone recommend any other resort in Menorca? Thanks.

  1. nope

  2. no

  3. OK, now lets get serious, anywhere on Menorca is suitable for children, there isn't a bad beach on the entire island. As with all the other resorts, Punta Prima is a lovely place to stay.

If you've never been to the island before, all I can say is it's a fantastic place to go with a family, it tends not to be visited by singles groups who tend to go for the busier parts of Mallorca or Ibiza. Have a great holiday!

  4. Look at me Kim Look at me......no I havn't......sorry

  5. Yes - stayed at Prima Sud twice.

The beach is great and the water warm. There is a good 5* hotel in the resort where you can go and get good evening entertainment for the kids. They don't mind so long as you buy drinks.

I don't think the food in the resort is that great though, to be honest.

It's 10 miutes from the airport so you are best getting a taxi. There is a local car hire in PP inteslf. I have used them twice, they were good and very helpful.

The best places to go are Citradella and the lovely resort of Calla Galdana - v family friendly.  San Beau is good too.

There is also a small "zoo" on the main island road.

There is also a small fishing port on the north f the island where the sea bass is excellent. Fornells it's called.

Oh - also please note that there is NO CASH point in PP. There is one in the next village, so take cash, but if you get a hire car, you can stop on the way to Mahon.

We didn't think Mahon was that great itself, but there's lots to see on the island.

  6. Hi, yes we go to Menorca regularly, it is beautiful. We normally stay around Cala en Porter in the east, and we have been to Punta Prima many times, our kids love it, just stay away from the hotels or apartments.

We can highly recommend that area, the beaches are superb.

Do yourself a big favour, get a villa overlooking the Med near Cala en Porter with a pool and such, should cost around £700 for the week or less.. its only an hour max from the airport, as is Punta then get the kids down to the beach, it is the best. A small cove with tall rocky hills protecting it so the sea is always dead calm, the sand white and the sun hot. From there you can travel inland and visit the tallest site on the island then go to Fornells in the north for the best fish restaurants around, even the King visits apparently.. want more? mail us on gdsvalentine@yahoo.co.uk
