  1. yes I have, it is very old and certainly has alot of historical places, there are no roads so you mostly walk everywhere or go in a gondola on the many canals. The best part was san marco plaza, we went during marde gras! it was a time that I will never forget!

  2. who said paris the most romantic city in the world? to me it would be venice! the gondola ride might be pretty expensive but it is definitely worth it! You can go to a nearby Murano island to see Murano glass. These are the few places I would recommend: St Mark's Square, Doge's Palace, Rialto Bridge and Bridge of Sighs (both can be seen when you take the gondola or you can walk there)

But if you do not want to go on the gondola, can always opt for the water taxi.

edit:- don't go during easter...the place will be very packed and you will be freezing on the gondola!

  3. awsome trip  even if u dont go into the doges palace or san marco.  exploring the city even around piazza san marco is amazing.  we took a trip down to the old Gheto.  and our tour guide told us to walk back so it was a fun adventure you can see parts of venice where people actually live.  not the tourist area

  4. 4 times. It is depressing, dirty and overcrowded. You see everything in one day, so don't even think in staying overnight. Roma and Firenze are 100 times better!

Read Thomas Mann's 'Death in Venice'.

  5. Venice – a city you either love or hate. It’s chuck full of tourists, it can be too hot during the summer and cold and damp during the winter. It ain’t easy to lug your groceries from the supermarket or the Rialto Market (over the bridges). Occasionally the garbage collectors go on strike and you’re stuck with  stinky stuff in your house for the rest of the day. Pigeons – they c**p on the clothes you hang out to dry, they c**p (and destroy) the monuments. The sea gulls…. Worse than cats because they peck at the garbage bags and spill the trash out all over the place… and the cleaning people won’t do a thing for most of the day. Tourists – like water – are everywhere. If you leave your house door open they seep right in! When the tide is to low and it’s hot out the air may get foul…. When the tide is too high you need to wear boots. Graffiti – someone is writing all over the city walls and there are those that call it urban art!  Ahhhhhh!!!!

Venice – great place to be when it rains (put your Welly’s on) , when it’s foggy, early in the morning at first light and late at night when no one is around. The salty air, the strong smell of the water is perfume to me. I love to hear the banter of the tourists – you can hear more languages walking across Piazza san Marco than at the UN. The buildings, wasted and weakened by the infirmities of old age make it one of the most romantic cities in the world… it's as if time has stood still and wraps itself around you like a close friend.

  6. Yes, it was amazing... It feels weird to be standing in a place that was around a long time ago.  It is very rustic, romantic, and way better than what they show on tv.  The food is also amazing, I could go back just for the food.  Everyone is really nice too, if you get lost people gladly help you.

  7. I was in Venice 2 weeks ago and loved it.  I hadn't expected to like it so much, but I did.  There is plenty to do, but not so much to do that you feel driven to sightsee the whole time.  It gives you the chance to just relax and experience it.  Very simple living, relaxed.  I heard it was dirty but I found it nice and clean.  Way cleaner than Rome.  Water Taxis take you where you need to go - or you can walk.

    I recommend a visit!

  8. *sigh* the masks.... I fell in love with the masks. I want to go back during Carnival just so I can wear a mask...

  9. yes I'm Italian and I've been in Venice...it has got lot of historical places..you should visit it..

  10. Yea I have, I enjoy the city so much.. The best part of my trip was Venice and I hope yo too enjoy it.... We could see everywhere in 1 day and walked.
