  1. Hola.  Yes, I have been there.  I was bored out of my tree.  If you like to hang out at your resort and not venture - then this is the place to go.  There are no ruins.  The town has been basically built to accomodate the resorts going up.  It used to be a cool place to go to camp on the beach for those who spent time driving around sightseeing mexico.

  2. zihuat has the best beaches i've seen on the pacific, and i thought it was really charming.  but it's not for the traveler who wants to be entertained with clubs and lots of activities.  it's a fishing town and it's mostly preserved.  ixtapa which is about 5 minutes away is the resort town.  i like it...but having seen a lot of other places in mexico, i've seen better clubs, way cooler beaches, and adventures than what ixtapa has.

i think zihuat is great for down to earth people, looking for a relaxing getaway.  they do have luxury, but you'd have to stick close to the hotel if that's all you were interested in.

no ruins....that's the other side of mexico.

  3. Zihuatanejo is a small fishing village on the Guerrero coast. It is a nice place to relax and enjoy the pacific ocean, maybe fish, and snorkel some. It is not very developed, or wasn't lasy time I went in the 90s. The big resort for loud ugly Americans and their counterparts, the Mexican Nouveau Middle Class, is Ixtapa which is a few miles north of Zihuatanejo. If you like quaint and traditional go to Zihuatanejo. If you like touristy go to Ixtapa. Zihuatanejo has several beaches and is one of the nicer populated beach areas in Mexico. There are no ruins there that I am aware of, but that doesn't mean there aren't any. I stayed at Hotel Catalina -Sotovento when I went.

  4. It's awesome, beautiful . Small ! Basically it's a vacation for really one thing - Beach bum. Nothing to see really not a shopping meca just a beautiful beach with a few hotels. If you want to do anything besides the beach for a week I would look elsewere. But if you want to forget the world for a solid week and do the beach thing then go. For me yeah I love the beach but.... I need another activity. I'm in Acapulco and we got enough for you to do for a week or more and it's not as crazy as Cozumel or Cancun . Just the right balance . Zihuantanejo is about a 3 hour ride from Acapulco .
