  1. travelled to Cayo Santa maria in 2007. Cayo Santa María, which is 13 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide, boasts 11 kilometers of excellent beaches and is linked to the big island by a causeway on the sea and we stayed at the Melia Cayo santa Maria resort

The resort was really nice and small just how I like them!! OUR ROOM- Was in building 22 and close to things, the room was big and spacious and the bathtub was a nice treat to soak after a day at the beach. Maid service was always on time and did a great job. The only thing missing was a view of the Ocean,it's worth it to pay extra for the sound and sight when you have your morning coffee. The perk works well but bring some whitener from home what they bring is not much. But if you caught them or left them a little note they always came through. It's not the maids it's the fridge refill guy's!!

THE STAFF- We all could learn something from them, they don't get paid alot but alway's greet you with a smile and a hello!! And when they meet each other they always hug and kiss and are happy to see each other! Alway's helpful and pleasant not like some of the guests, I really don't know why people go on Vacation and feel like they are better than anyone else!! Relax and treat people with respect and remember your not the only person there on a holiday!!

WHAT TO BRING EXTRA-Salad dressing if your not into oil. Coffee whitener for your room and sugar pkg. Kitty treat's for the cats they will love ya for it! A couple traveling with us got a rash from we think sand fleas so bring some oitment and allergy med. for the itching. As always treats for the maids and staff!

THE FOOD- I would give the food a 9/10 there is always something different and if your really fussy the pasta is yummy!! The a la carte's are good as well and a nice change. There is a 24hr. snack place by the pool that is handy if you just want a burger, pizza or fries!

THE RESORT&SPA- Nice grounds and always kept up smaller so easy to find your way around! Shopping isn't much but they have a few thing's. The spa is reallly nice and worth a treat to yourself expecially on a rainy day! We never did get to go on our excursion it was cancelled 4 days in a row because of the wind. Heard it was really good time though (Catamaran Trip) The beach was one of the nicest we've seen and water was beautiful!

OVERALL- I would recommend this resort to anyone and we had a great time with the friends we went with and the new one's we made. My advice would be for people to relax and enjoy and that will make everyone's vacation enjoyable too!!!

  2. No, though I have driven from Morón to Caibarien, which is the nearest point on the mainland.
