BAE Systems have had the frankly brilliant idea of holding a conference on the lake. i've decided to stay on for a few days as it looks beautiful, what should i check out?

  1. Lake Garda is beautiful and the towns suggested are all lovely, but you should know that whichever you choose, everywhere else is readily accessible by the boat which runs up and down the lake - so you can visit everywhere easily from one base.

It is easier to get to the southern part of Lake Garda from airports so choose somewhere in this region to stay in, even the real tourist places like Desenzano are fine, if not as picturesque.

  2. won't you get awfully wet!!!

  3. I live about an hour south of the lake. There are a lot of interesting towns around the lake, but my favorites are Sirmione in the south and Malcesine and Limone on the north end of the lake. Sirmione has a small castle guarding the old town area and a large Roman ruin at the end of the peninsula. Malcesine has a castle hanging over the lake. There's a nice small museum in the castle and there's a gondola up to the top of the mountain. Limone is directly across the lake from Malcesine.
