  1. Wineries are fantastic. The food is amazing. The nightlife is lively. Soccer games are loud, colorful and fun. Great city.

  2. Santiago, Chile has more than half the entire countries population located in this city. Currently there must be 20 cranes working around the city of 20 plus story buildings. The city is located 75 miles inland and surrounded by the PreAndies (mountains 5k feet). It is cool to travel in July and see the snow capped mountains in Chile's winter. The economy is very good in Chile now and you will surprised to hear American 80's music commonly being played on radio and malls. Like any country in order to truly appreciate the people you need to do some research and know a little language or at least try. The people spent 25 years of bad dictatorship of Pinoche who died last year after 10 years of exile. In Santiago you can find a Home Depot thought not implying that is good or bad just that the economy is modern. The Chilean pesos was about 5400 to the dollar about two years ago but has lost probably 15% in value to peso since then. Do not expect increased value for your dollar too much. Air fare from US is rather expensive (1k -1.8k dollars) and is an 8 hour flight from Miami

  3. Viña is at the sea (about 1 h and sthg, by car or bus 1 1/2)

If u stay in Santiago, go to (barrio) Bellavista at night. AFter (or before, after is nice) you can have a "mariscal" at the mercado central. If you're planning to go in winter (ju-aug) you might wanna go for a ski trip around, you can have buses at 7am in Las Condes or  Providencia that will bring you up in 2 hour.  Otherwise, Cajon del Maipu and its natural thermal baths are cool too.

  4. Vina del mar!

    sea food!

    WINE!!

    beautiful country.
