Has anyone been to the castle of Amboise in France.How was it?

I visited the castle last year around the same time (just after spring) and really enjoyed it.

The architecture is both medievel and renaissance

The rooms are well furnished and the castle itself is in great condition.

The visit takes about an hour max and starts with the chapel where Leonardo Da Vinci is buried.

The whole place is just dripping with history - lots of important things took place within this castle....politically, artistically, etc

The French royal families used to live here and in the Chateau at Blois before moving to Paris(Louvre)

The castle is in the town by the river - great view from the tower.

If you have time, you can also visit "Le Clos Luce" which was Da Vinci 's residence ( 10 min by bike)
