I am writing a story about travelling around the world called around and about. The trouble is me only being 13 i have never travalled the world. So i need some experiences and descriptions of people you met. Whether you went alone of with someone. Please don't tell me that i shouldn't be writing about something i don't know about though. I know that but i like the adventure.

  2. Ok could i maybe suggest you look up some travel websites just to help increase your knowledge? Trip adviser is a great one.

I have seen a few countries and very much enjoy the thrill and adventure of travel. I enjoy it because you see different landscapes, cultures and people.

I have experienced seeing Australia and the diversity of the green rain-forests, the crystal clear waters of the Barrier reef and the arid dessert of the outback. I have viewed both sunrise and sunset at Ayers Rock (often referred to as Uluru) in Australia's Northern Territory. Watching the Rock change colours as the sun sets is just amazing and quite a mystical but magical experience. You would have to actually be there to understand what i mean.

I have experienced visiting Lapland and seeing real thick snow! sledging in it and just watching in awe at the sheer beauty of it on the snow capped hills and trees making it look just like a Santa's winter wonderland.

Lonely planet do a good book titled gap year.

  3. That is quite a task you have set yourself!

                                               In fact almost impossible.

I can only offer the basics, get a large map of the world pin it on your wall, plan an imaginary route you would like to take, mark up all the places, get brouchers on all these spots, there is your ready made outline.

The next bit is more of a problem for you.

I have done most of the world , apart from the local people I have met and befriended I remember best of all the atmosphere , the smells , the ambiance!  All very difficult to describe .

All I can suggest there is a trip to your local library look through all the books written by folk that have done it, read and make up your own mind, no real point in trying to make stuff up, remember some have done it been there and got all the tee shirts!

However good luck on your trip. Imaginary or not.

  4. My dean at school traveled around the world once on his sailboat. he made it halfway around the world before he stopped in Austrailia where he lived for 14 years, then he sailed the rest of the way when they decided to move back. He told us the story when he was subbing for my Geo. teacher. He went with his wife and daughter and didn't really describe the people but all the interesting food. Japanese, Aussie, Chinese, Indian, African, American, ect. Good luck. I know how it feels to write on a difficult subject.

  5. Yes.

    Frances Drake and Sir Walter.
