  1. i was induced a day after my due date and all in all it was great... i used the pitsosin and they gradually gave me more until i was ready to push... the contractions come strong and hard and realy quick once they iv is turned on...and the pitosin is released...but it was quick....i went in the hospital to be inuduced at 730 and thats because i had paper work to fill out but since i was already having irregular contractions they waited to see if they were going to regulate and when they didnt they sarted the drip at about 11 and at 505 my son was born

  2. WIth my daughter, I went to the DR at 39 weeks exactly and I was still 2 cm (I had been stuck there for 3 weeks and it sucked) so he went ahead and scheduled me for an induction a week later on my due date.  I had to go in for a non-stress test on Monday where they also gave me cervadil.  Then Wednesday morning I had to be at the hospital at 6:30 am.  He started my pitocen and broke my water at 8 am ( I was STILL 2 cm, the cervadil didnt help).  She was born at 2:36 pm weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz. 20 inches and was perfectly healthy.  I loved  being induced.

With my son.  I went to the DR at 38.5 weeks, I was 2 cm again and he let me chose if I wanted to be induced the following week (Which would have put me 4 days before my due date) or wait til the following week (which would have put me 3 days overdue) [[NOTE: My hospital only does inductions on Wednesday mornings]]  I decided to go ahead and do it the following week. I was just as big with him as I was with my daughter and since she was a big baby I figured I rather have him 4 days early than 3 days overdue. I didnt want to take any chances on having a 10 lb baby if I didnt have to. Lol.  I went through the whole non-stress test/cervadil on the following Monday (I was 3 cm at this time).  Wednesday I went in at 630 again and went through the whole process. The doctor came in at 8 am to check me, break my water and start my pitocen.  I was 4 cm and my water broke while he was checking me.  He said even if I had chosen to wait another week for induction....I wouldn't have made it, that I would've had the baby within the next 24 hours anyhow.  He started my pitocen and my son was born at 12:17 pm weighing 8 lbs. 7 oz. 21 in. and perfectly healthy as well.  I love being induced and later on down the road when I decide its time for another one, I want to be induced also.

  3. No, I had to be induced because the baby wouldn't come out on her own. I hope I go into labor by myself this time around. Doctors where I live won't do inductions for the sake of convenience. There has to be a medical reason for it. I think that's the way it should be.

  4. you always have a choice.  some people base their choice on sound medical advice and some people base their choice on when their doctor is going on vacation or the calendar says it's time, but it's always a choice.

i was induced because of high blood pressure with both of my children.  i think it was a good reason, but it was still my choice.  it sucked.  it sucks less than a c-section would, but it sucks much more than letting nature take its course.  when you speed things up artificially, you take risks.  your body isn't allowed to dilate slowly (i tore with both babies) and your baby might not be ready to be born.  inductions also increase the risk of c-section.

i was basically strapped to the bed for about 3 days with my first.  pitocin contractions suck.  they didn't let me eat or drink anything and i couldn't sleep with all the pain and the wires and the beeps and the nurses poking me every few minutes.  i hardly remember the birth.  people had to tell me what happened later.

it went much more smoothly with my second and it all happened in one day, but i was really disappointed about having to go through all that again.  i was hoping to be able to be at home for the early stages of labor with my second.

  5. i was induced with my son  i would not ever be induced again with second child if i can help it. it gave me bad side effect with my heart. they had to put me on oxygen my son heart rate went down.

  6. I chose to be induced at 39 weeks, due to swelling.  i was given Pitocin.  It wasn't that bad - because I also got an epidural.  goodluck!

  7. My doctor just asked me when I wanted to have my baby and I told him. My due date was only 4 days away. I was induced on a Thursday evening and they gave me cervidil. They left it in for the 12 hours and when they came back to check me, they found that it hadn't worked. They gave me the option to try again or just go home and hope to go into labor on my own. For me the cervidil made me REALLY sick though. It was horrible... they gave me medicine to help me relax but it just made me start vomitting.

I just wanted to get it over with so I got round two of cervidil. This time they got me to dilate to 2 and then they went in and broke my water. After that I got my epidural and they started me on pitocin. My baby was born on Saturday October 29, 2005. Almost 3 days after I had originally been induced.

    _edit_

Why am I getting thumbs down? I really don't get it...

  8. With my first 2 kids i was induced on doctors orders due to high blood pressure. with my third i was having a lot of pain down there. so they told me if i wanted to they would induce me. my doctor visit was on thursday they said they would induce me on tuesday but my water ended up breaking that friday

  9. I wanted to be induced at like 38-40 weeks because I knew I'd be having a big baby. My boyfriend was born at 10 pounds and his nephew was born at almost 10. The doctor's didn't believe me and wouldn't let me be induced. I went to 41 weeks until they decided to induce, but they didn't use medications, they just broke my water. I labored on my own for about 11 hours before I gave birth to my 9 pound 5.6 ounce baby Stella Rose. THEN they decided to believe me! Jerks. Maybe if they had induced me earlier, like I wanted, I wouldn't have tore and stuff. Surprisingly it only took an hour to push her out.

  10. you cannot chose to be induced. doctors will only do so for a specific concern or issue with your health or the babies. i was inducted 4 days early do to blood pressure issues...my OB tried placing prostaglandin gel in my cervix twice, two weeks prior to my induction and all it did was give me horrible contractions and only dilated me to 1 cm. the day of my induction they put me on pitocin and also placed a cervical dilator in my cervix that only got me to 4cm. after 16 hours of being in labor with no progression i had to have a caesarean.

  11. I got induced with my 2nd they gave me pitocin at 8am and broke my water at 9am and my girl was here at 10:20am. My contractions came fast and strong I barely had to push, but that happened with my 1st too. But it was a calm experience

  12. i was a week over and my doctor gave me choice... i said yesssss get this kid out !!!!  but i didnt ask how... my doctor broke my water and gave me petossin.  i was having small contractions and it was 8am... at 8pm i was only 4 cm... i had to have a c-section because you can only have your wter broken and still be in laber for so long..and her heart beat lowered every time i had  a contration...because of that my other children have been c section..i was very disappointed...reaserching it now i found out that mostly water breaks on its own half way through labor not really at the very beganning.   i also know that that is not the only way to induce..you could just have petosin or there is a pill that can be put on your cervix to soften it...i would do it over again if i could  i still got a healthy baby with a csection  but i never got to experiance child birth and many say oh your not missing much...i still am dissapointed
