I've certainly stopped going to stores with bad service.

Whenever necessary!  I've called clothing store managers, Red Robin, MacDonalds, Dunkin Donuts to name a few.  They are all very apologic and sometimes send coupons if you are in the right.  It pays to let them know of poor service.
